Is there a way to help those men and women who become so involved in a particular game that they allow their personal relationships (with real living people) to degenerate?
And information would be appreciated, and just so we are clear, I am not the one with the addiction, so don't tell me some ridiculous answer that is in no way helpful to answering my initial question. Thanks! :o)
Turn the tv off! You are now cured!
one easy step to not playing video games anymore
Is their a way to rid yourself of a video game addiction or is there no such thing?
yes there are therapy sessions for video game addicts.
if you're trying to treat yourself and wish to kick it w/o help I'm going to tell you a solid answer
No one in this world including me can help you get to where you want to be. If you're strong and willing to limit yourself in game time, then do so.
I never understood the label "addict" as a sign of weakness or symptom (hence the treatment). Every man and woman and child has common sense in this world and you choosing to play your game all the time is a decision made by yourself and no other.
Hi, I have a relative who is SEVERELY addicted to video games (computer, ds, ps2).He plays the games from...about 7:30 in the morning-10:00 at night. He's so addicted, he's begun missing meals, forgetting to do simple tasks, and deeloping strange habits (breaking pens, turning his head side-ways, and once, almost falling off a cliff(BY ACCIDENT)) Problem? HE'S 18 (almost 19)! I'm worried sick and my doctor says I'm overly stressed by this. What do I do? If you have a cure PLEASE tell me(or some method to help him)
oops sorry, DEVELOPING strange habits. I was typing really fast
I've already stopped buying games and talked to him with his dad as well. We can't take away the ds and stuff becuz there's nowhere to put it. We can't sell it on craigslist becuz....well it's a waste of a perfectly good game/console!
He's going to college...currently he still lives with his mom.
i used to be kindof like that, i had like 11 game systems ha. i was about 19 at the time and i even worked for gamestop. i dont know i just grew out of it b/c of college, work, and g/f. just dont have time for it like i used to. i still play but now its more like 1 hour a month maybe. sold eveything except my xbox 360 and wii. maybe he should get something to do like if he doesnt have a job. have him get a job. that should take up some time and give him some real world interaction. and ofcourse, make sure he goes to college.
I need a good answer pease. This is for my homework.
I think several steps need to be taken, just like with any other addiction (such as alcohol abuse).
Get rid of any triggers that would make them want to play (such as a video game chair), and obviously get rid of all the gaming systems, computer, tv, etc. Just for a short time, be extreme. Then you can slowly integrate all that stuff back into their life. Except the games of course, those never come back out.
ahahaha im sorry to tell u this but there is none lol
