Many are thin and hungry. They can have toxic chemical residue on their skin and toys. Many have respiratory problems. All suffer emotional problems. Barbara Knox, a pediatrician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, says it's too soon to know what long-term effects these meth babies will suffer. Knox says most of the research focuses on babies born addicted to meth. It's a repeat of 20 years ago when the focus was on babies born addicted to crack. And like then, doctors and researchers have more questions than answers.
goodluck hope it was helpful
Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jessica Boden. A warning to others about the dangers of meth addiction.
well ive heard that once a person becomes physically addicted to drugs (Cocaine,Heroin,Alcohol,Nicotine,Meth) the short term effects disappear, like they dont get the drugs actual effects because they are dependent on it so they need the drug just to FUNCTION so is this true?
No. That kind of thing happens at the very end of the addiction. And it's hard to come back one that point has been reached.
With most drugs, however, people build-up a tolerance over time.
How can I tell if my roommate is addicted? He says he isn't and only uses it recreationally, but that is becoming daily.
I also heard that if you inhale, snort, or whatever larger chunks it can damage your nose quicker. Please help with whatever info you can! Does it damage your teeth or is that meth? If yes, how?
i don't know if does that but he they definitely need to start thinking about a new recreation thats all i got sorry ...
I understand the psychology of addiction, and I'm well-educated on the ill effects of meth use... but most meth users don't want non-users to know what they're up to.
The decline in hygiene is a dead giveaway! I don't get it.
When I used meth, I would start sweating about twenty minutes after smoking or snorting. The chemicals used in the manufacturing of the drug is what usually causes the horrible body odor, not necessarily the lack of hygiene.
However, I have had times when I was so spun out that I was not aware of the day or time. If I started using the drug on a Monday it sometimes took me until Wednesday to realize what day it was. When Wednesday would come along I would still be in the same clothes and I had a raunchy smell that I can't describe.
Hope this helps! I don't do it anymore, it ended up being a $120 day habit... I lost everything and it stripped me from every little piece of dignity I had.
This is continuation from my other question, look it up I know what I did was stupid and I really regret it. I looked at the stages and stuff, I just got through with the highly-depressed/paranoia stage. and I'm feeling kind of happy. I'm not sure if it's still the effect of meth though.
My heartrate is still fast but I can tell it's slowing down. The depression that it put me through as officialy scared me off meth... The good effects meth makes happens is so not worth going through that major depression... I felt like my mind/soul hated me for doing it and punished me.
First 2-4 hours I was feeling good/hyper. Then I was in the depression/paranoia stage for about 7... Being that depressed constantly is very very horrible. I almost cried and thought about suicide, but I knew it wasn't me thinking that, it was the drug, so I kept it straight. This is the most horrible thing I ever experienced.
I usualy stay up late anyway about 5 hours of sleep, so I'm not sure how the sleep phase is going to effect me. Even though I'm not thirst nor hungry, I been force feeding my self just to be safe. And I placed ice on my chest to slow down my heart rate.
I read about the depression side effects after use. But since I know it's going to be the cause of meth doing it, not me. I felt a little more in control. I wasn't sure before. But I can safely say the meth addiction did not win me over.
Also I would like to thank you for your compliments. I was stupid enough to try it in the first place I don't deserve your gratitude.
Also please try and answer my question as well. Thanks.
good. im glad u didnt freak out and hurt urself. i tried it once too ad i was very paranoid and i felt so guilty! i'll never try it again
The Facts and bEffects/b of bMethamphetamine Addiction/b and Pregnancy b.../b
Methamphetamines abuse (which includes crystal meth, speed and Ecstasy) can create serious health problems, but methamphetamine addiction and pregnancy is an especially dangerous combination. Using meth creates anxiety, increased blood pressure and heart rate, exhaustion, poor judgment, poor personal hygiene, and mental disorders such as psychosis and depression. For an expectant mother these symptoms can be seriously harmful to not only herself but to her unborn baby as well. Anytime you take a drug during pregnancy it’s important to remember that your baby is taking the drug as well. Toxins from the drug will pass through your placenta and into the baby, potentially creating growth and birth defects in utero and painful withdrawal symptoms after birth. Other problems pregnant women with an addiction encounter are a decreased appetite and increased exposure to dangerous people and environments. This can lead to poor nutrition, which directly affects the growth of your baby, and can put you in violent and dangerous situations when you’re trying to score drugs.
...Crystal bMeth/b Sex - bEffects/b of Sex on Drugs - Esquire
Have you been reading my diary? (If so, please allow me to clarify: That 80-page, purple-ink meditation on Zooey Deschanel is completely fictional and is part of a longer piece I plan to pitch to McSweeney's in the coming months.)
Sex is better on crystal meth because both influence dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that activates a certain pleasure center the one that also makes you want to cover your windows with aluminum foil. "What happens with crystal and the dopamine is that one particular aspect of sex gets very exaggerated, which is the aggressive, sort of animalistic kind of sex," says Dr. Steven Lee, psychiatrist and author of Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction.
However, I'm just getting a report from the wires that meth has some negative effects. "Dopamine is the aggressive brain chemical and serotonin is the intimacy chemical," says Dr. Lee, "so all of that sensual experience really gets drowned out with the crystal."
Too much methamphetamine will damage this dopamine system, thereby decimating your ability to feel pleasure about anything. To remedy this, you will need handfuls of pure Ecstasy. Otherwise, you'll be stuck in what's called "anhedonia," which addicts describe as "kind of a flat, gray haze that people live in."
