Is marijuana addictive or habitually abused?

There is no substance in marijuana that is physically addictive. However, with many people it can be physcologically addictive, or in other words if you enjoy the high you may crave being high (not crave marijuana itself). Hope that helped.

Is marijuana addictive and what are the long and short term affects?
Hemp

Also what are the consequences in a legal sense if u get caught?

marijuana is only *psychologically* addictive, not *physically* addictive. caffeine and alcohol are *physically* addictive (i.e. if you're addicted, you will experience withdrawal, increased tolerance, and essentially, your body physically needs the drug to function).

marijuana is only addictive in the sense that your brain will slowly adjust to repeated use of the drug, causing stuff like "amotivational syndrome" (exactly what it says - you become lazier).

the short-term effects, essentially, are that you get high. slower reflexes, sensitivity to touch and light, the whole deal. the more you have, and the more THC is in the dose, the stronger the effects. it affects your driving ability significantly.

it is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana.

long-term effects are purely psychological - but there are some other issues. marijuana is a very popular gateway drug - i.e. teenagers will try it, think it's cool, and use it as a "gateway" to harder drugs, like ecstasy, cocaine, heroin... which are all highly addictive and easy to overdose on.

you can obviously get lung cancer and stuff from marijuana, but notably, studies show that you can't get emphysema from marijuana.

Is Marijuana addictive or just habit forming?

I am righting an essay on drug addiction. tell me what you think should be included.
Thankks.

Marijuana is in no way shape or form physically addicting. It is mental or what you are calling habit forming.

Can marijuana addictive on the first use?

i need to know now.

and is it addictive in general or can it just be habitatual?

There are absolutely no addictive compounds in Marijuana that would cause one to become addicted. This is a common misconception. Marijuana is often classified with other 'drugs' as being terrible for you and to be avoided. This is entirely untrue. Although people that smoke it do smoke often, it doesn't mean they are addicted or reliant on it. They just like doing it. In the same way you wouldn't ask a snowboarder to stop snowboarding, you wouldn't ask a pothead to stop smoking. They just like doing it. and it is harmless.

Are prescription pills as highly addictive as Marijuana, heroine or cocaine?

They are highly addictive and it doesn't make sense to take that combination unless one is trying to escape something by "numbing" their self, or is very much addicted?

Lets take an example of heart rob Heath Ledger.

First off it has been said that Marijuanna is not addictive, physcially you do not get hooked, a psychological dependence is more likely. All the others you mention Heroin and cocaine are physically and highly addictive just like nicotine which is why there are so many smokers that can't quit. Alcohol can be addictive.

From the website below: The term "addiction" is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive physical dependence or psychological dependence, such as: drug addiction, video games, crime, alcoholism, compulsive overeating, problem gambling, computer addiction, pornography, etc.

In medical terminology, an addiction is a state in which the body relies on a substance for normal functioning and develops physical dependence, as in drug addiction. When the drug or substance on which someone is dependent is suddenly removed, it will cause withdrawal, a characteristic set of signs and symptoms. Addiction is generally associated with increased drug tolerance. In physiological terms, addiction is not necessarily associated with substance abuse since this form of addiction can result from using medication as prescribed by a doctor.

However, common usage of the term addiction has spread to include psychological dependence. In this context, the term is used in drug addiction and substance abuse problems, but also refers to behaviors that are not generally recognized by the medical community as problems of addiction, such as compulsive overeating.

Narcotis- painkillers: Oxycotin, morphine, Vicodin, Anything with codeine in it. Prescriptions are highly addictive and just as addictive as all of the ones you have mentioned.

Xanax a sedative. Highly addictive
Valium a sedative. Highly addictive

Most people that abuse drugs and even prescriptions pills are legal drugs as well as alcohol are self medicating onself. Most people don't want to feel anything it is a coping mechanism. Most people who are addicts say, "I don't have to think of my life or my problems." Each one of us have a different way of escaping some people run, watch hours of tv, eat, drink, play video games, play on the computer all day long. It is a coping mechanism....and it becomes an addiction.

Heath Ledger actually was taking cold medicine and his pain med. and also took a sleeping pill. The combination is what killed. RIP Heath. He was an awesome actor.
