I am worried that I may have developed a psychological dependency on marijuana by using it as a means to escape depression and anxiety. I'm looking for resources and more information on if I have a problem and how to correct it.
Thanks.
You just have the thought of addiction stuck in your head, I've smoked for years at times more than others and I've gone months without it. When I've gone without it, I don't feel the need to do it, I'm just really bored. When I stopped drinking it was a lot different, that was much, much, harder and I had physical symptoms as well, not just a need to drink.
in todays episode i talk about the bullshit that is quot;the gateway theoryquot; in regards to marijuana.
So my girl has this addiction to Marijuana, and i would love to help her stop. she wants to stop too but she says, "I want to stop, I can't help it." so I've tried to talk her out of it but it just does'nt seem to be working. what can I do? and Is it possible that this is destroying my relationship with her?
you have to ask yourself - why is it that you want her to quit? does it change her personality while she's with you or have any negative effect on your relationship? or is it just the way that you perceive it as being wrong?
I would say if it doesn't affect your relationship, ie .. she's not to stoned to go out with you and your mates and doesn't act like a mongoloid, or not want sex as she's not in the mood, and it doesn't put her in danger then maybe don't be so hasty to encourage her to quit (unless she really wants to).
if she does want to quit then just give her positive feedback when you head out and she's more "with it" if she's more talkative, liveley say that you notice these things and enforce that her personality without the drug is something that you really enjoy and cherish. with some positive re-inforcement maybe she'll cut down and be able to cut it out all together.
Good luck man.
I know over a period of time of drinking and smoking one can become addicted. What kind of emotions led them to this addiction. Do most addicts have low self esteem?
Sometimes you just try and then you can think that reality is too hard, that it's better when you are drunk or high.
I have been smoking since i was 15 and I am now 23. I get very irritable when i dont smoke. Having diabetes doesnt help either.
I started smoking it at 13 and was a VERY heavy user until 26. It has done damage to my..... Um... What were we talking about?.... Oh yeah, pot. I was a heavy smoker and lit up before getting out of bed and every couple hours throughout the day. I was stoned all day long.
Seriously, take some Niacin about 20-50 mg per day and it will help you out. Most multivitamins will have it in lower doses.
Pot isn't physically addictive but it is mentally addictive. Cut back on the caffeine while you are stopping and that should help with the irratibility.
I know it is tough but it is worth it. I have been clean for 16 years and the residual effects are finally all but gone. I still have trouble with memory.
My friend just wrote me this huge email about how she's become totally addicted to marijuana... I was shocked because I knew she smoked but not like that O_O Anyways I really dont know what to say to her... any tips for like people she can call (like the kids help phone) or steps to take?
thank you!!! =|
