This is serious stuff. The longest I can go without using the internet is 4 hours. I need to focus on school work. HELP
School work before you get on the net no matter how hard it is!
A schedule is long overdue! :D
You will succeed if you put your mind to it!
www.discoverynews.com New research shows the area of the brain associated with addiction is triggered during breakups. Kasey-Dee Gardner reports.
I'm a kinda busy teen...extra curicular and school. But it still seems that a have a bunch time left. I spend way to much time on the computer. Each computer session I have is usually 2 hours. And I usually have 3 internet sessions a day. I tried many times to break the addiction and it worked for a few weeks, but I relasped and I go on the internet everyday. I try to occupy myself with other things but I'm addicted to youtube, yahoo answers, and google. Also when I'm not on the computer I'm usually watching tv or exercsising...usually tv. I really want to elimate computer as a part of my life...but I get all my information on it. Can someone please help me solve this problem for good (not just a temporary answer)? PS I'm introverted but not anti social so I like to things by myself...no matter what experience I have.
Also always when I break an addiction I usually end up with a different addiction...like right now I have an addiction to candy....Also just by unplugging my computer...I will eventually find a way to use the computer...like by going to the library,etc...
There is software that can block computer usage during certain times of day. Parents can use it to keep kids out of trouble when they are not at home. Perhaps you could set it up so you can only be online an hour a day? Might be easier then going cold turkey. It takes 21 days for something to become a habit and 6 months to be part of your personality. Keep to a time limit and you'll get used to it.

VERY worried about the SATII Bio. I've tried to study, but I just can't get myself to concentrate. I always wander away from studying and go on the computer, or read something else. But mostly onto the computer. I really need to quit my Internet "addiction". I really don't want to go on. Actually, I know I shouldn't and I try not to, but everytime I think to myself that it'll be alright to go on for a while and then study, but everytime I go on, it takes me a super long time to get off. And by that time, I already have no more time to study because I need to go out somewhere. If I keep this up, I'm going to fail! :(
Help!? Any suggestions?
I'm completely against online relationships of any kind. I usually just update my blog, play some games, read Wikipedia articles or go on Facebook.
Get good friends "offline" as in real life, they will keep you away from the stupid thing.
When I am bored which like every 30 minutes I always find myself online or talking on the phone. I find it horrible because it leads me astray from what I originally planned to do.
Carmen, Internet addiction can be hard to control. Many people have lost jobs, homes, friends, and loved ones simply because they could not beat thier internet habits. I recommend you find some help. I found a site that has addiction information and a directory of addiction treatment clinics so you can help. http://www.addictionselfhelp.com
Good Luck
I've been going online very often recently and I think I may be addicted?
" Don’t panic. There’s no harm linking up with people like yourself via email, discussion forum or chat room. But there’s a problem if you’re neglecting relationships in the real world and you’re not getting enough exercise and fresh air.
Sometimes the internet can draw us in so deeply, we forget there’s another life beyond our keyboard and screen.
Cutting back makes sense. Set a timer, say for one hour, and put it next to you when you go online. When it rings, force yourself to log off. For the first week, limit yourself to three one-hour sessions a day. This will give you time to chat and play games but not take up your entire day. " - Miriam Stoppard
