Anyone fed your dog Addiction Raw Dehydrated pet food dry? Heard that it can be mixed with kibbles. Feedback?
Catch!

I've been doing some research. The other brands that sell Raw Dehydrated food are Honest Kitchen and NRG. Addiction's looks the most yummy and their protein content is the highest. I like the fact that they also don't use chicken, beef or lamb since my dog has sensitive skin. Anyone tried this yet?

Hi,
Addiction's food is the best.My dog loves it.But my advice would be to feed your dog with meat maybe once a week if he is sensitive to it.It contains proteins which will probably be needed for him.Do you feed your dog wet food? That should also be included in his diet:)

Oh yah,and goood LUCK!

Addiction Dehydrated Raw Pet Food?
Poppy hears the lid of the raisin box ...

If you read my last question, I am looking for a dog food that has a higher fiber content (currently dogs are on Canidae). I have been looking online, and finally found one that is higher, but I have not heard of it before -- it is Addiction Dehydrated Raw Food. Has anyone had experience with this?

Addiction Dry Food was rated top dry food by the Whole Dog Journal (according to their website), but the dry food doesn't have enough fiber. The only thing that I am unsure about is the protein content (20%). Any opinions/experiences???
ADDED: I am looking for a food with more fiber because I would prefer not having to cook every night for them... canned pumpkin did not work, prescription diet (high fiber) from vet for treatment of diareah worked wonders.
ADDED: They have loose stools on all foods besides that high fiber one (they cannot eat it on a regular basis though)... have them on canidae, have had them on innova...

20% is a really good protein content.

Puppies only need in the high 20's and adult dogs dont need more than 18% protein.

Most foods actually contain too much protein, as high as 40% in many high quality foods, that level is almost what working dogs need. Heck, sled dogs are only suppose to have a 50% protein content and look at the work they do!

AvoDerm - so-so
Bil-Jac - bad
Blue Buffalo Dog Food - good

There is no single food that is "best". For example, some dogs thrive on grain-free foods, while grain-free is too rich for other dogs. What you want to find is the high-quality food that *your dog* does best on.

Read the ingredients on the food you buy. Here is my "short list" of rules when I am looking at dog ingredients:
1) When I chose a dog food, I chose one high meat content. I want to see preferably at least 2-3 out of the top 5 ingredients be meat or meat meal (first ingredient must be!). Meal is simply the meat with the moisture removed.
2) I want to see higher quality grains, such as barley, brown rice, and oatmeal, instead of seeing wheat and corn. Or an alternative starch/carbohydrate such as potatoes or sweet potatoes.
3) I don't want to see any byproducts.
4) I don't want to see a lot of fillers.
5) I don't want to see preservatives that are believed to be carcinogens (BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin).
6) I don't want to see artificial colorings such as the Red, Blue, and Yellow dyes.
7) I don't want to see added sugars (sugar, corn syrup).
8) I don't want to see mystery meats (meats identified only as "meat" or "poultry".)

Here is an article about byproducts:

And an article on what ingredients to avoid:

You can check this website for good foods: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
(I recommend only feeding foods rated 4, 5, or 6 stars. Anything 3 stars or less, I would stay away from.)

Hi there...Azmira, Blue Buffalo and AvoDerm are some that I recognize and are considered very healthy for dogs.

Pet foods which are devoid of preservatives, dyes, byproducts and certain grains are best.
