Recovering from cocaine addiction?
My boyfriend is trying to stop using powder cocaine after years of use. I need to know what to expect from him. I have heard that I should expect mood swings, but what other things? Is there physical symtoms, too? He is complaining of muscle aches. Is the drug really taht bad. I love him very much and want us to get through this.
Yea drugs are really that bad. Ex addicts get withdrawal symptoms where it can really make them sick, and cause unplanned bowel movement. Thats just some of the physical stuff I know. Just be there for him.
Cocaine abuse - drug addiction twists the head up in more ways then one.
Please let me know how cocaine abuse affect you.
Let me know if you think it is ethical to pay drug addicts money for research.
As an addict would you have been honest.
My aunt is an addict. She was married, but ruined it. Lived w/ my grandma, but ended up stealing from her and her friends. Lived w/ my mom twice, the first time my mom found the crack and called the drug strike force who sent her to rehab. She went back to my grandma's and stole again, went back to my mom's stole from her. My mom kicked her out, and my mom and I convinced my grandma not to let her come back. She always picks guys who are abusive. She's tried to quit so many times, but she'll get a job, get some money, and go right back to it. Right now she's living in a homeless shelter. Please, don't give money to addicts! If you are going to pay them, buy them lunch.

My friend confided in me that she has a cocaine addiction. She is in substance abuse counseling and is trying very hard to abstain. We were all at a cookout this weekend and her husband went missing and she later found out he went to score some cocaine. She is very frustrated because she gave in and used again after a month of not using. What advice can I give her?
The only thing you can do is be there for her. Cocaine is one of the hardest drugs to get away from. How do I know? Because I have been there. I just stopped doing it, and so did my husband. It's easier for some people. But other times people need support from friends and family. It has been 2 yrs since I have used. Maybe you can try and go to some group meetings with her, it could help you more relate with what she's really going through, because you'll hear it from others too. Try and spend a lot of time with her to try and keep her mind off of it. Good luck, and for the record, she is lucky to have such a compassionate friend in you.
i don't accept one has to watch a young person destroy themselves and reach "rock bottom"/skid row before intervention is appropriate or possible
Cocaine addiction can harm your health. Many people have lost jobs, homes, friends, and loved ones because they could not beat thier cocaine habits. I recommend you seek some help. I found a site that has addiction information and a list of addiction treatment centers so you can help. http://www.addictionselfhelp.com

I have a friend who is trying to get help with his addiction. Actually I have quite a few number of friends. I've had my share of it before and have thankfully never been addicted. It seems as though this one friend has been experiencing insomnia. Obviously stopping would be the cure and in fact from what the parents have told me they have had the guy pretty much chained up (figure of speech). What are some cures to help this guy get the sleep? certain liquids, food, combination, etc.
Yes, they are having him check into rehab so don't worry.
Yet, for those nights that he's awake (maybe after doing it behind their backs) what can I suggest to the guy to help bring him down and try to knock out. I usually just turn my phone off bc otherwise he'll try to keep calling and talking senselessly early in the weee hours of the morning.
give me a tip.
thanks
Unfortunately, if he is still sneaking it, the last thing he's gonna want to probably do is eat something...that was the case with me anyway! If you suspect he is doing it when he calls you - God, I used to call EVERYONE and think I was the most interesting person in the world lol! - just be honest and tell him you think he's still on it. sometimes shame will make him stop calling you!
Otherwise, he really has stopped, and is just feeling anxious and edgy..it is a very hard drug to get off of. You are a great friend for wanting to help him out!
As for natural sleep cures...I will give you a few sites that can help:

I hope these help..and don't give up on your friend yet! This is a tough time to go through!
