Why are drug and alcohol addicts harshly labeled?
Simpson Street Shot Glass

Do you know what it is like to be there and understand what these people truely go through?

When I was growing up, alot of my friends did/sold heroin and crack and everything else under the sun. Many of them have since died and/or gone to jail, that happens. My friend Jeff went from rolling people for crack money, living like scum, to realizing he had to make a change, getting off his lazy ass and bettering himself. He got his degree and is a regional manager for a retail chain. Only 4 out of about 25 of us ended up being anything but scumbags, and one is still in the balance. People have every right to look down on odds like that. I never tell people I meet about my past because it's so embarrassing. Empathy just romanticizes their failures.

Do alcohol addicts that quit alcohol still crave it?
in denial

I want to quit sugar, so when I stop eating it, will I still crave it?

well this question is very tricky i personnaly have not consumed alchahol but my dad has and you will probly crave it for the first week or so, then craving will drop down after the first week, after that about the fist month, then you most likely after the first year (or 4 months depending on how well you can resist) you will not feel like drinking anymore and beer will NOT cause any type of diseeze only smoking will people that die because of alchahol consumption die of drinking and driving mainly on country roads because of the thin roads (o and your body will always crave sugar it is a natural occourance) i hope this helped...

How do you get alcohol addicts to seek help or rehabilitation?

intervention.

you get all of the alcoholic's friends and family in a room, and each of them tells the alcoholic that they've noticed the alcohol abuse, that they're sad and ashamed for the alcoholic, but that they still love the alcoholic and want him/her to get help.

this procedure is designed to break through the alcoholic's self-lies and self-delusions and make the alcoholic realize that there is no way to continue to hide from the fact that he/she has a problem.
