what are three reasons that addiction to alcohol and drugs can effect your friends and family.?
Family

thanks so much
1. As your use increases you must hide it from friends and family.
2. Since you are spending more time getting loaded, and the folks might notice, you tend to avoid them. Old friends drop by the wayside as new using buddies take their place. This leads to isolating yourself from your family.
3. As the addiction progresses the addict will inevitably find it necessary to lie to family, and perhaps to steal from them to support an increasingly expensive habit.
Finally someone insightfully tackles today's issues from a scientific perspective. In Bill Nye's new show The Eyes of Nye, Bill shows the science ...

2:After abusing alcohol/drugs for years is has a negative effect on your Memory.
3:Some people have a aggressive reaction.
That's all I can think off.
I believe if you consume in moderation (alcohol/recreational drugs), that' s ok. As long as it's not illegal. Some Country's allow Cannabis, you can actually buy them in a store and consume. Netherlands for example.
im writing a persuasive essay on alcohol and drugs..i need three broad reasons why they are bad for you.
i picked onee...Effects they have on you..but not sure
please help
They do a number on the body and there are many possible health consequences. In particular, they change chemical pathways in the brain...the body is constantly trying to maintain balance...
Brain cells use neurotransmitters to pass messages along to and from all areas of the body...they exit a cell, cross a gap (synapse) and bind to a receptor on the next cell, passing the message along. Most (if not all) abused substances affect one or more neurotransmitters and/or their receptor molecules. Different types of drugs (including alcohol) affect the brain in different ways. I'll describe one of those ways...this is how a person may develop tolerance to a substance (needing more and more to feel the way it felt initially).
When the drug causes an unnaturally large amount of certain transmitters to be present certain synapses ... it tends to overstimulate reward centers in the brain and feel good.
But remember, the body constantly strives for balance.
In response to exposure to a larger amount of transmitters, the body detects this and the number of receptors on receiving cells in the pathway shrink. Then when the drug is out of the system, normal functioning does not resume (at least not right away) and because now you are back to the natural amount of neurotransmitter but with fewer receptors, the messages are not getting relayed as efficiently. Which tends to result in the opposite effect the drug had. Which is why apathy and depression are common when the drugs are gone and the person "comes down."
I tried to make that as simple as possible, but it is an awfully complex subject. I suppose my point is that i think the physical effects on the brain and psychological effects caused by those physical effects are a pretty clear reason why drugs are bad. Mmmm 'kay?
:-)
(What I meant by that last part is "why drug addiction is bad for you")
